Routine Maintenance of X and Y-Axis Belts on M5
Daily Maintenance of X/Y Axis Belts
A. Cleaning the X/Y Axis Belts
- Before printing, use a tissue to wipe dust off the X-axis.
- Clean any residue from the two Y-axis slots to prevent buildup that could cause the motion mechanism to stall or get stuck.
B. Checking Belt Tightness
- Every week, manually move the printing platform and nozzle assembly.
- Check for loose belts during movement.
- If you find any issues, adjust the tightness of the X/Y axis belts as needed.
Adjusting the Tightness of X/Y Axis Belts
A. Adjusting X-Axis Belt Tightness
- Use an H2.5 hexagonal wrench to adjust the belt tightness at the left shoulder, as shown below.
- Turn the wrench to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen.

B. Adjusting Y-Axis Belt Tightness
- To adjust the tension of the Y-axis belt, first loosen the top screw of the left synchronizing wheel (refer to the video while facing the back of the machine).
- Use an H2.5 hexagonal wrench at the back of the M5 to adjust the tightness of the two Y-axis belts. Turn to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen.
- Press the belt with your hand to feel the pressure and ensure the tightness of both Y-axis belts is consistent.
- Move the printing platform back and forth to ensure the Y-axis belt tension is balanced.
- After adjusting the belt tension, retighten the top screw of the synchronizing wheel.
