A perfect 3D model begins with a perfect first layer. The M5 printer automatically enables AI detection for first-layer printing by default. When the following errors occur or the initial layer is not sticking properly, please follow these tips:
1. If you encounter this print quality issue as shown below, it is likely that the distance between the nozzle and the hotbed is too close:
Solution:
Step 1: Clean the PEI plate with soapy water to remove dust and grease. Wipe off any liquid on the surface using a lint-free cloth. Then, auto-level the printer by navigating to Control > Auto Level on the touch panel and start printing.
Step2:Restart the print and observe the first layer. If the issue persists, continue with the following steps.
Step3:Adjust the Z-offset value by modifying it in steps of +0.05, +0.1, +0.15, +0.2, ensuring it does not exceed +0.3mm
If you encounter this print quality issue as shown below, the distance between the nozzle and the hotbed should be correct:
Solution:
Step 1: Clean the PEI plate with rubbing alcohol to remove dust and grease. If necessary, wash the plate with soapy water and fully dry it.
Step 2:Check the contact area between the first layer of the model and the heated bed. If the contact area is small, use AnkerMake Slicer to adjust settings:
A. Increase the adhesion area by selecting Expert Mode > Build Plate Adhesion > Build Plate Adhesion Type > Brim.
B. For ABS and PETG, increase the hotbed temperature. Disable the fan for the first few layers or the entire process when printing ABS by selecting Expert Mode > Cooling > Disable Print Cooling. Recommended temperatures are 65°C for PLA+, and 100°C for ABS and PETG.
C. Check the Initial Layer Speed in AnkerMake Slicer. If it is higher than 50mm/s, reduce it to the default speed of 50mm/s.
If you encounter this print quality issue as shown below, it is likely that the distance between the nozzle and the hotbed is too far:
Solution:
- Clean the PEI plate with rubbing alcohol to remove dust and grease. If necessary, wash the plate with soapy water and fully dry it. Then, auto level the printer by navigating to Control > Auto Level on the touch panel, and start printing.
- Restart the print and observe the first layer. If the issue persists, continue with the following steps.
- Adjust the Z-offset value by modifying it in steps of -0.05, -0.1, -0.15, -0.2, ensuring it does not exceed -0.3mm.
