How to Replace the Y-axis Belt of M5

Fault Description:

  1. Y-axis abnormal noise.
  2. Layer shift in the Y-axis direction during model printing.
  3. Replacing other components (such as nozzles, hot ends, fans) does not solve the print quality problem.

Method of Replacement:

  1. Loosen Y-Axis Adjustment Nut:
    1. Use an H2.5 wrench to loosen the Y-axis adjustment bolt.

Remove PEI Board and Print Platform:

  • Remove the PEI board.
  • Use an H2.5 hex wrench to loosen the 5 screws fixed to the print platform.

Remove Aluminum-Based Printing Platform:

  • Remove the aluminum-based printing platform and pull off the belt with the copper crimp.

Loosen Belt Tensioner:

  • Use an H3.0 wrench to loosen the belt tensioner and remove the belt.

Install New Belt:

  • install the new belt and thread the belt through the front timing wheel.
  • Snap it into the timing wheel gear.

Clip Belt into Printing Platform:

  • Slot the copper crimp at the end of the belt into the slot of the printing platform.

Thread Belt and Insert Belt Tensioner:

  • Thread the other end of the belt through the printing platform.
  • Insert the belt tensioner and use an H3.0 wrench to tighten the screwdriver.

Clip Belt into Printing Platform:

  • Pull the belt and slot the copper crimp at this end into the slot of the printing platform.

Adjust Belt Tension:

  • Use the H2.5 wrench to pull the belt tensioner back into the Y-axis adjustment nut and adjust the belt tightness (ensure the tightness of the two belts is similar).

  1. Check for Shaking or Noise:
    1. Move the support bracket back and forth to check for shaking or abnormal sounds.
    2. If there is shaking or abnormal sound, use the M10 open wrench to adjust the two eccentric nuts at the bottom of the printing platform clockwise until the platform moves smoothly without abnormal sound.
  2. Reassemble Printing Platform:
    1. If there is no shaking or abnormal noise, install the aluminum-based printing platform with an H2.5 hex wrench.
    2. Cover the PEI board to complete the Y-axis belt replacement.

By following these steps, you can successfully replace the Y-axis belt on your AnkerMake M5 printer. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us for assistance.
