How to Replace the X-axis Belt of M5
Fault Description:
- X-axis abnormal noise.
- Layer shift in the X-axis direction during model printing.
- Replacing other components (such as nozzles, hot ends, fans) does not solve the print quality problem.
Method of Replacement:
- Prepare the Printer:
- Turn on the M5 switch.
- Click Control > Move on the screen to raise the Z-axis by 200mm and move it to the middle of the X-axis for easy replacement.
- Make sure the filament is removed and turn off the power. Wait for the hotend to cool down.
Loosen Extruder Assembly Bolts:
- Use the H2.0 hex wrench to loosen the 4 bolts on the back of the extruder assembly.
- Move the top cover and extruder cover of the extruder assembly upward along the Type-C line and secure them.
Remove Front Bottom Cover:
- Use an H2.0 hex wrench to loosen the front bottom cover bolts and remove the bottom cover.
Pull Out Left E-Axis Motor Wire:
- Pull out the left E-axis motor wire.
Remove X-Axis Belt Retainer:
- Use an H2.0 hex wrench to loosen the 2 bolts of the left X-axis belt retainer.
- Separate the X-axis belt retainer from the extruder assembly.
Remove X-Axis Belt:
- Use the H2.0 wrench to release the top wire of the X-axis belt fixing block counterclockwise.
- Slowly push the belt out of the belt fixing block and pull out the X-axis belt.
- Remove Right Shoulder Back Cover:
- Use an H2.0 wrench to loosen the three bolts at the back of the right shoulder screen and peel off the right shoulder back cover from the side.
- Remove X-Axis Protective Cover:
- Use an H2.0 wrench to unscrew and remove the X-axis protective cover bolt.
- Install New X-Axis Belt:
- Remove the new X-axis belt and pass the X-axis belt around the timing wheel and through the left shoulder along the front and rear ends of the X-axis.
- Install Upper Limit Device:
- Use the H2.0 wrench to remove the limit device of the X-axis.
- Place the belt under the limit device, install the upper limit device again, and insert the shoulder belt along the X-axis into the left shoulder device.
- Remove Left Shoulder Top Cover:
- Use an H2.0 wrench to unscrew the three bolts on the back and bottom of the left shoulder, and remove the top cover of the left shoulder.
- Remove X-Axis Belt Tensioner:
- Use an H2.5 wrench to loosen the X-axis adjusting screws and remove the X-axis belt tensioner.
- Loosen X-Axis Belt Tensioner Nut:
- Use an H3.0 wrench to loosen the X-axis belt tensioner nut.
- Insert Belt into Tensioner:
- Pull the previously inserted belt out and insert it into the belt tensioner.
- Tighten the X-axis belt tensioner nut with an H3.0 wrench, then insert the belt into the front X-axis inlet.
- Route Belt through Extruder Assembly:
- Pass the other end of the belt through the back of the extruder assembly along the X-axis front.
- Merge the ends of the belt through the belt retaining block and pull the belt out 2-3 teeth.
- Secure Belt Retaining Block:
- Use an H2.0 wrench to insert and secure the top wire of the belt retaining block.
- Mount Belt Retaining Block:
- Use an H2.0 wrench to mount the belt retaining block to the extruder assembly back panel and insert the E-axis motor wire.
- Adjust Belt Tension:
- Use the H2.5 wrench to fix the belt tensioner of the X-axis and adjust the belt tightness.
- Move the extruder assembly left and right to check for any abnormal noise.
- Reassemble Left Shoulder:
- If there is no noise when the extruder assembly moves, insert the left shoulder cover and install the 3 screws with an H2.0 wrench.
- Reassemble Right Shoulder:
- Use an H2.0 wrench to secure the right shoulder X-axis protective cover bolts and install the right shoulder back cover.
- Use an H2.0 wrench to secure the 3 bolts of the right shoulder back cover.
- Secure Front Bottom Cover:
- Secure the front bottom cover with an H2.0 wrench.
- Reattach Covers:
- Move the extruder cover and top cover of the extruder assembly down along the Type-C line and secure them.
- Tighten Extruder Assembly Bolts:
- Use the H2.0 wrench to tighten the 4 bolts on the back of the extruder assembly to complete the replacement of the M5 X-axis belt.
