How to Replace the V Wheel of X and Y Axis for M5

Fault Description:

  1. X-axis abnormal noise.

  2. Layer shift in the X-axis direction during model printing.

  3. V-wheel deformation, flat spots, V-wheel peeling, and crumbling.

Method of Replacement:

  1. Prepare the Printer:

    1. Turn on the M5 switch.

    2. Click Control > Move on the screen to raise the Z-axis of the extruder assembly by 200mm and move it to the middle of the X-axis for easy replacement.

    3. Remove the filament and turn off the power. Wait for the hotend to cool down before replacing it.

Remove PTFE Guide Tube:

  • Press and hold the pneumatic connector of the guide tube on the extruder assembly and pull out the PTFE guide tube.

Disconnect Type-C Cable:

  • Use the H2.0 hex wrench to loosen the 2 bolts on the Type-C cable on the extruder assembly and pull out the Type-C cable.

Remove Top and Extruder Cover:

  • Use the H2.0 hex wrench to loosen the 4 bolts on the back of the extruder assembly.

  • Remove the top cover and extruder cover of the extruder assembly.

Remove Front Bottom Cover:

  • Use an H2.0 hex wrench to loosen the front bottom cover bolts and remove the bottom cover.

Pull Out Left E-Axis Motor Wire:

  • Pull out the left E-axis motor wire.

Remove X-Axis Belt Retainer:

  • Use an H2.0 hex wrench to loosen the 2 bolts of the left X-axis belt retainer.

  • Separate the X-axis belt retainer from the extruder assembly.

Remove Bottom V-Wheel:

  • Use an M8 open wrench to fix the lock nut and use the H3.0 hex wrench to loosen the lower V-wheel of the backplate counterclockwise.

  • Remove the bottom V-wheel of the X-axis.

Remove Top V-Wheels:

  • Remove the extruder assembly and use the same method to remove the 2 V-wheels on the top of the extruder assembly.

Install New V-Wheels:

  • Secure the lock nut with the M8 open wrench and install the upper 2 V-wheels with the H3.0 hex wrench.

  1. Reattach Extruder Assembly:

    1. Hang the extruder assembly on the X-axis and install the lower V-wheel using the same method.

  2. Reinstall X-Axis Belt Retainer:

    1. Install the X-axis belt retainer block to the extruder assembly back panel.

    2. Secure the X-axis belt retainer block by tightening the 2 screws with an H2.0 hex wrench.

  3. Check for Shaking or Noise:

    1. Move the extruder assembly left and right to check for shaking or noise.

    2. If shaking or noise, use the M10 wrench to adjust the lower eccentric nut and verify again.

  4. Reconnect Wires:

    1. Insert the left E-axis motor wire and use an H2.0 wrench to fix the front bottom cover.

  5. Reattach Covers:

    1. Install the extruder cover and top cover of the extruder assembly and tighten the back 4 bolts of the extruder assembly with an H2.0 wrench.

  6. Reconnect Type-C Cable:

    1. Insert the Type-C cable and use the H2.0 hex wrench to tighten the 2 bolts of the Type-C cable on the extruder assembly.

  7. Insert PTFE Guide Tube:

    1. Insert the PTFE guide tube into the pneumatic connector.

    2. Complete the replacement of the X-axis V-wheel kit.

 


 

Y Axis V Wheel Replacement

Fault Description:

  1. Y-axis abnormal noise.

  2. Layer shift in the Y-axis direction during model printing.

  3. V-wheel deformation, flat spots, V-wheel peeling, and shedding.

 

Method of Replacement:

  1. Remove Printing Platform:

    1. Remove the PEI board.

    2. Use an H2.5 hex wrench to loosen the four bolts fixed to the print platform.

Remove Aluminum-Based Printing Platform:

  • Remove the aluminum-based printing platform.

Remove Y-Axis Belt Tensioners:

  • Use an H2.5 wrench to loosen each of the two Y-axis belt tensioners.

  • Remove the belt with the copper sleeve at the rear end (near the belt tensioners).

 

Remove Belt Tensioners:

  • Remove 2 belt tensioners.

  • Use an H3.0 wrench to loosen the belt tensioners and remove the belt.

  1. Remove Bottom Shell End Cap:

    1. Use an H2.0 wrench to unscrew the 2 bolts at the bottom of the M5 rear end and remove the bottom shell end cap.

  2. Remove Support Bracket:

    1. Place the aluminum-based platform at the rear end of the M5 and remove the support bracket from the M5.

  3. Replace V-Wheels:

    1. Use an M8 wrench and the H3.0 hex wrench to twist off the four V-wheels respectively.

    2. To replace the four V-wheels, use an M8 wrench and H3.0 hex wrench, which will be installed on the support bracket.

  4. Reinstall Support Bracket:

    1. Slowly push the support bracket into the M5 Y-axis slot and slowly pull out the lower belt.

  5. Reinstall Belt Tensioners:

    1. Install the pulled-out belt into the 2 belt tensioners using an H3.0 wrench.

    2. Place the belt tensioner into the Y-axis card slot and clip one end of the belt copper sleeve into the support bracket.

  6. Adjust Belt Tension:

    1. Use an H2.5 wrench to fix the belt tensioner and adjust the tightness of the two Y-axis belts.

  7. Check for Shaking or Noise:

    1. Move the hot bed assembly back and forth, and shake it up and down to check for shaking or noise.

    2. If shaking or noise, use the M10 wrench to adjust the lower eccentric nut and verify again.

  8. Reassemble Rear Bottom Shell:

    1. If there is no abnormal sound, use an H2.0 wrench to fix the M5 rear bottom shell end cover.

  9. Reattach Printing Platform:

    1. Use the H2.5 hex wrench to tighten the 5 screws fixed to the printing platform and place the PEI board to complete the Y-axis V-wheel replacement.
