How to Replace the Marlin Board of M5

Tools Needed:

  • H2.0 hex wrench
  • H2.5 hex wrench
  • H1.5 hex wrench
  • Small flat-head screwdriver
  • Small Phillips screwdriver

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Remove the Bottom Cover:
    1. Lay the M5 machine on its back.
    2. Use the H2.0 hex wrench to remove the 7 bottom cover bolts (green marks).
    3. Use the H2.5 hex wrench to loosen the 4 foot pad bolts (red marks).

Disconnect Wires:

  • Open the cover plate of the bottom cover.
  • Use the H2.0 hex wrench to release the TYPE-C wire fixing bolts.
  • Unplug the TYPE-C wire and the Z-axis motor wire.

Remove Power and Other Wires:

  • Open the bottom cover.
  • Use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the 24V power cord and hotbed wire from the marlin board (green marks). Pay attention to the order of the wires.
  • Unplug the Y-axis motor wire, Z-axis motor wire, thermistor wire, and fan wire (blue marks).
 

Remove the Marlin Board:

  • Use the H2.0 hex wrench to remove the marlin board fixing bolts.
  • Use the H1.5 hex wrench to remove the 4 TYPE-C fixing bolts.
  • Remove the marlin board.

Transfer Components to New Marlin Board:

  • Use the H2.0 hex wrench to remove the heat dissipation block fixing bolts from the marlin board (green marks).
  • Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the TYPE-C wire seat on the marlin board (red marks).
  • Install the removed heat dissipation block and TYPE-C wire seat on the new marlin board.
 

Install the New Marlin Board:

  • Use the H2.0 hex wrench to secure the new marlin board back to the machine base.
  • Use the H1.5 hex wrench to secure the TYPE-C base.

  1. Reconnect Wires:
    1. Plug in the Y-axis motor wire, Z-axis motor wire, thermistor wire, and fan wire.
    2. Use a small screwdriver to lock the 24V power cord and hot bed wire (note the positive and negative positions).
  2. Reattach the Bottom Cover:
    1. Use the H2.0 hex wrench to fix the bottom cover bolts.
    2. Use the H2.5 hex wrench to fix the foot pad bolts.
    3. Plug in the Z-axis motor wire and TYPE-C wire (ensure the Z-axis motor wire and TYPE-C wire correspond to "R/L").
  3. Secure the TYPE-C Wire:
    1. Lock the TYPE-C wire retaining bolts with an H2.0 hex wrench.
  4. Install the Bottom Cover Panel:
  • Install the bottom cover panel back into place.
