How to Replace the Filament Detection Module of M5
Fault Description:
- Filament break detection module false alarm.
- Filament break detection module failure (not working).
Steps for Removing the Filament Detection Module:
- Prepare the Printer:
- Turn on the M5 switch.
- Click Control > Move on the screen to raise the Z-axis of the nozzle assembly by 200mm and move it to the middle of the X-axis for easy replacement.
- Make sure the filament is removed and turn off the power. Wait for the hotend to cool down for easy replacement.
Remove Left Shoulder Back Cover:
- Use an H2.0 hex wrench to unscrew the upper bolt at the left shoulder back cover and the bottom two bolts at the left shoulder.

Open Left Shoulder Upper Cover:
- In the upper part of the left shoulder, open the upper cover from the back to the front.
- Unplug the filament detection wire.
Remove Filament Detection Module:
- Use the H2.0 hex wrench to unscrew the two long bolts on the filament detection module.
- Remove the filament detection module.
Installation Steps for Filament Detection Module:
- Position New Filament Detection Module:
- Ensure the filament is removed.
- Place the new filament detection module in the fixed position (pay attention to the forward direction of the module socket).
Secure New Module:
- Use an H2.0 hex wrench to tighten the two long bolts on the filament detection module.
- Plug in the power cord.

- Use an H2.0 hex wrench to tighten the two long bolts on the filament detection module.
- Plug in the power cord.
Reattach Left Shoulder Cover:
- Install the upper cover of the left shoulder.
- Use an H2.0 hex wrench to tighten the upper bolt and the bottom two bolts of the left shoulder.
Check Installation:
- Load the filament.
- Click Control > Extrude > Load on the screen to check if the filament detection module is installed and if the M5 can run normally.
