How to Fix Filament Stringing for M5

Pictures and description

Filament stringing occurs when moving between different areas of the model

Possible Causes, Diagnoses, and Solutions

The Material is Damp, Leading to Decreased Printing Quality

  • Solution: Dry the printing material before use or replace it with new consumables.
    • Drying Process Suggestion:
      • PLA and TPU: The drying temperature is 60°C, drying time is 4 hours.
      • ABS and PETG: The drying temperature is 70°C, drying time is 4 hours.

Short E-axis Retraction Distance or Slow Retraction Speed (No Need to Consider When Using Simple Mode)

  • Note: When using non-AnkerMake consumables or custom settings, prioritize this factor. When using AnkerMake consumables and default parameters, consider this factor last.
  • A. Retraction Distance: Gradually increase the retraction distance.
  • B. Retraction Speed: Increase the retraction speed.
    • Enter the profile editor through the filament menu, and check whether the studio retraction distance and retraction speed parameters are 2 mm and 40 mm/s, respectively.
    • Gradually increasing the retraction distance to 2.5 mm, 3.0 mm, it is generally not recommended to exceed 5.0 mm; gradually increasing the retraction speed, is generally not recommended to exceed 80 mm/s.

Printing Temperature is Too High, Resulting in Increased Material Fluidity and Falling Due to Gravity During Non-Printing Movements

  • Diagnosis: Through filament > Temperature, check whether the printing temperature is suitable for the material.
  • Solution: Reduce the nozzle temperature by 5-10°C.

Nozzle Moving Through Air for a Longer Period, Causing Material to Fall Due to Gravity (Not Necessary to Consider When Using Simple Mode)

  • Diagnosis: Check whether the function of avoiding moving beyond the wall in the Studio is turned on through Quality > Avoid Crossing Walls.
  • Solution: Turn on the function to avoid moving beyond the wall. Note: The spacing between multiple models should not be too large.

Nozzle Wear, Resulting in Stringing

Stringing Between Model Supports

  • Note: Stringing between model supports is a normal phenomenon, and the retraction function is not used when moving between supports to reduce printing time.

If none of the above methods can solve the problem, please contact us directly through us and provide logs (APP side through Me > About > Upload Log, device side through Setting > Upload Log), Gcode, STL model and phenomenon pictures for analysis.
