Fixes for failed extrusion for M5

Possible Scenarios

Reasons, Checks, and Solutions

1. Filament IssuesA. Filament Depletion

  • Check: Verify if the filament has run out and triggered the filament detection alarm.
  • Solution: Install a new filament. If the filament detection alarm is triggered, reinstall new filament.

B. Filament Winding or Improper Placement

  • Check: Inspect if the filament is wound or excessively bent.
  • Solution: Straighten any knots and bent sections of the filament. It is recommended to use the lower left corner installation method for the material rack and rotate clockwise when printing to reduce resistance.

C. Filament Breakage

  • Check: Lightly pull the filament from the feeding port to see if it can be easily pulled out or check if the filament detection alarm is triggered.
  • Solution: Remove the remaining filament and reload new filament. Refer to the specific operation method in the How to Replace the Nozzle article.

D. Contaminated Filament

  • Check: Ensure the filament is clean (store the filament and machine away from dusty environments).
  • Solution: Add a sponge before the filament enters M5, so it passes through the sponge before entering the device for printing.

2. Extrusion Channel IssuesA. Nozzle Blockage

  • Check: Remove and cut the front section of the filament, reload the filament, and try extruding filament through Control > Extrude without material discharge.
  • Solution:
    • Clean the Nozzle: Heat the nozzle to 180°C, insert a through-hole needle and stir, then manually extrude until the extrusion is smooth. Refer to the specific operation method in the How to Replace the Nozzle article and video.
    • Replace the Nozzle: After heating the nozzle to 180°C through Preheat > Start Preheating, use the M6 sleeve and hexagonal wrench to replace the nozzle. Refer to the article and video.

B. Filament Slipping in the Extruder

  • Check: Verify if the filament is slipping in the extruder and causing grinding.
  • Solution: Pull out the filament, cut off the front ground part, and reinsert it.

C. Heat Dissipation Issues

  • Check: Press the extrusion clamp to pull out the filament and check if the filament diameter has increased (indicating softening and blockage).
  • Solution: Pull out the filament, cut off the front part, and reinsert it. Turn off the printer, wait for the extrusion motor to cool down, and print again. If the issue persists, consider replacing the throat and cooling fan. Refer to the How to Replace the Nozzle article and video.

3. Model Gcode File Issues

  • Check: Determine if the extrusion stops frequently at the same height in the same file.
  • Solution: Re-slice the model using the default simple mode and print it again.

If none of the above methods solve the problem, please get in touch with us directly through us and provide logs (APP side through Me > About > Upload Log, device side through Setting > Upload Log), Gcode, STL model, and photos of the issue for analysis.
