How to Adjust the Belts on the X and Y Axis

When to Use a Belt Adjuster

Belts may become loose over prolonged use, leading to a decrease in X/Y axis motion accuracy. This can adversely affect print quality potentially, resulting in layer shifts and failed prints. If you are experiencing printing artifacts, you can check the tightness of the X/Y axis belts with this belt adjuster. If the tension is found to be outside the recommended range, you can adjust it to the correct level using this tool.

Precautions Before Use:

  1. The adjuster is designed for no more than 10 adjustments (frequent use may cause parts to deform, leading to inaccurate measurements. After using 10 times, reprinting is advised).
  2. Print using PLA+ material.
  3. Ensure the adjuster's pointer is set to zero before use. The pointer should align to the far left side, as shown in the image below. If the adjuster has slightly deformed after multiple uses, manually adjust it to be straight and aligned before use.

Adjustment Methods:

X-Axis Adjustment:

  1. Power off the printer or unlock the motor using the touchscreen display or Ankerrmake app so that the print head can be moved manually. First, loosen the X-axis belt with a 2.5mm hex key until it is relatively loose, and push the print head to the rightmost end. Position the X-axis belt adjuster against the print head's sheet metal, as shown below.

  1. Slowly increase the X-axis belt's tension with the 2.5mm hex key by rotating clockwise and loosening by rotating counterclockwise. The adjustment is complete when the pointer's tip points within the scale range (see image for reference).

  1. Remove the X-axis belt adjuster and hex key, then proceed with printing. It is recommended that an automatic bed leveling be performed before starting a new print to ensure the best printing outcome.

Y-axis adjustment:

  1. Power off the printer or unlock the motor using the touchscreen display or Ankerrmake app so that the hotbed can be moved manually. Begin by loosening the Y-axis belt with a 3mm hex key until it is relatively loose, push the hotbed to the back end, and remove the PEI bed sheet.

  1. As illustrated below, press down on the Y-axis adjuster's limit column with your left hand and the belt with your right hand, ensuring the belt stays centered within the adjuster's detection column. Slide the Y-axis adjuster underneath the hotbed.

  1. Adjust the Y-axis belt's tension with the 3mm, tightening by rotating clockwise and loosening by rotating counterclockwise. The adjustment is complete when the pointer's tip aligns within the scale range.

  1. Remove the Y-axis belt adjuster and hex key, and you're ready to start your next print. It is recommended that you perform automatic leveling before starting a print for the best print quality.
