How to Load/Unload Filament on the M5C

Filament Loading

When this is needed:

  1. First Use: Before printing the model for the first time.
  2. Filament Depletion: When the filament is exhausted and needs to be replaced.
  3. Color/Material Change: When replacing with a different color or material filament.
  4. Equipment Maintenance: When replacing the nozzle, hot end, extruder components, or performing other equipment maintenance.

Steps:

  1. Turn On the Device: Wait for the device to beep.
  2. Prepare the Filament:
    1. Open the new filament packaging.
    2. Use scissors to cut the filament at a 45° angle (recommended cutting length is 40mm).
    3. Press the extruder handle with the left hand, and then push the filament from the Teflon pipe mouth on the material rack into the extruder with the right hand until it can no longer be pushed.

Check Filament Position:

  • Release the extruder handle.
  • Manually pull back the filament from the Teflon pipe mouth end. If it cannot be pulled out, the filament is installed correctly. Otherwise, repeat step 2.

Reset Device:

  • Open the mobile phone app, connect to the device, enter the device interface, and move the Z-axis up 50mm.

Preheat and Extrude:

  • In the app, connect the device, enter the control-extrusion menu bar.
  • Click on the nozzle to set the preheating temperature according to the filament's printing temperature, then click the "extrusion" button (recommended extrusion length is 60mm).

Check Extrusion:

  • Wait for the nozzle to preheat to the preset temperature.
  • Observe if the extruder is extruding the filament. If not, check if the filament is completely pushed into the extruder gear as in step 2.

Filament Unloading

When this is needed:

  1. Color/Material Change: When replacing with a different color or material filament.
  2. Equipment Maintenance: When replacing the nozzle, hot end, extruder components, or performing other equipment maintenance.

Steps:

  1. Turn On the Device: Wait for the device to beep.
  2. Preheat and Retract:
    1. Open the mobile phone app to connect the device.
    2. Enter the Control - Extrusion menu bar.
    3. Click on the nozzle to set the preheating temperature according to the filament's printing temperature, then click the "retract" button (recommended retraction length is 60mm).

Remove Filament:

  • Wait for the nozzle to heat up to the preset temperature.
  • The extruder will retract the filament to the upper end of the extruder gear and make a beep sound.
  • Press the extruder handle with the left hand, pull back the filament from the coil end with the right hand, and pull out the filament.
  • Use scissors to cut the filament at a 45° angle, then pass the filament head into the filament fixing hole.
