How to Replace the Motor of M5C
When to Replace the Motors:
- The motor is damaged, and it cannot move or moves unsmoothly, making a cracking sound that affects normal operation.
X-axis Motor Replacement:
Disassembly:
- Turn off the printer.
- Remove the front shell of the printer's right shoulder pendant and use a 2.0mm wrench to unscrew the two fixing bolts of the right shoulder back shell. Remove the back shell.
- Use a 2.5mm wrench to loosen the X-axis belt and pull it out from the extruder V-wheel fixing bracket and the X-axis synchronous wheel.
- Unplug the power terminal of the X-axis motor.
- Use a 2.0mm wrench to unscrew the four fixing bolts of the X-axis motor and remove the motor.
Installation:
- Install the new X-axis motor and use a 2.0mm wrench to tighten the four fixing bolts.
- Insert the X-axis motor power terminal.
- Thread the X-axis belt onto the X-axis motor synchronous wheel and insert it into the X-axis belt adjustment space of the left shoulder. Use a 2.5mm wrench to adjust the belt to the appropriate tightness.
- Reattach the right shoulder shell and tighten the two fixing bolts of the right shoulder shell with a 2.0mm wrench.
- Turn on the printer, connect the mobile app, and enter the device > Move menu to check the X-axis movement.
- Ensure the X-axis moves smoothly without any abnormal noise to complete the replacement.
Y-axis Motor Replacement:
Disassembly:
- Turn off the device and unplug the power cord.
- Remove the cover plate on the base and pull out the two Z-axis motor terminals.
- Use a 2.5mm wrench to unscrew the 4 foot pad fixing bolts and the 5 bottom case fixing bolts, then remove the printer bottom case.
- Unplug the Y-axis motor terminal.
- Use a 3.0mm wrench to loosen the Y-axis belt adjustment screws and remove the belt from the Y-axis motor synchronous wheel.
- Use a 2.0mm wrench to unscrew the Y-axis motor fixing bolt and remove the motor.
Installation:
- Install the new Y-axis motor and align it with the bolt hole. Use a 2.0mm wrench to tighten the fixing bolt.
- Place the belt on the Y-axis synchronous wheel and use a 3.0mm wrench to tighten the belt adjustment screws.
- Insert the Y-axis motor terminal.
- Reattach the bottom shell and use a 2.5mm wrench to tighten the 4 foot pad fixing bolts and the 5 bottom shell fixing bolts.
- Insert the two Z-axis motor terminals and cover the base plate.
- Plug in the power cord, turn on the device, connect the app, and move the Y-axis to ensure smooth operation.
Z-axis Motor Replacement:
Disassembly:
- Turn off the printer and unplug the nozzle assembly cable at the base end.
- Flip the printer back and remove the base cover.
- Unplug the Z-axis motor terminal.
- Use a 4.0mm wrench to unscrew the 8 gantry fixing bolts.
- Remove the gantry.
- Use a 2.0mm wrench to unscrew the two fixing bolts (one on each side) between the Z-axis motor fixing bracket and the gantry.
- Pull down the Z-axis to separate the motor from the gantry, then use a 2.5mm wrench to unscrew the locking bolt of the Z-axis motor coupling and remove the motor.
- Use a 2.0mm wrench to unscrew the four fixing bolts between the Z-axis motor and the fixing bracket, then remove the motor.
Installation:
- Use a 2.0mm wrench to lock the four fixing bolts between the Z-axis motor and the fixing bracket.
- Place the coupling on the motor bearing and use a 2.5mm wrench to tighten the Z-axis motor coupling locking bolt.
- Use a 2.0mm wrench to tighten the two fixing bolts (one on each side) between the Z-axis motor fixing bracket and the gantry.
- Insert the gantry into the printer base.
- Flip the printer back and use a 4.0mm wrench to tighten the gantry and base fixing bolts.
- Insert the Z-axis motor terminal.
- Cover the printer base and stand up the printer.
- Plug in the nozzle assembly cable at the base end.
- Turn on the power, move the Z-axis, and ensure smooth operation to complete the replacement.
