How to print high-definition finished products

Guide to Improving UV/DTF Printing Clarity - File Formats and DPI Settings

Applicable Scenarios

This guide applies if you encounter any of the following issues:

  • Printed results appear blurry, jagged, or grainy

  • You are unsure about the correct pixel or DPI requirements for your print size

Tip: Verifying that your file meets the recommended DPI and pixel requirements before printing can prevent the majority of clarity-related issues.

File Upload and Format Requirements

Supported File Formats

The editor supports the following file formats: PNG, JPEG, WEBP, SVG, AI, PSD, and PDF.

SVG Vector File Support

The editor supports uploading and basic editing of SVG files. When printing, SVG vector elements are automatically parsed and printed in high definition.

Advantages

  • No need to calculate DPI manually

  • Vector graphics can be scaled without loss of detail or clarity

DPI Explanation

What Is DPI?

DPI (Dots Per Inch) indicates how many printed dots appear within one inch and directly affects print sharpness and detail.

Recommended DPI Settings

Printing Scene

Recommended DPI

Description

Standard products

300 DPI

Suitable for most applications such as phone cases, apparel, and A4-sized prints

Small or detailed products

400-600 DPI

Recommended for stickers, badges, and other small-format items

DPI Conversion Method

Formula

  • Size (cm) ÷ 2.54 = size in inches

  • Required pixels ≈ inches × target DPI

Example

 Printing a 10 cm × 15 cm phone case at 300 DPI:

10 ÷ 2.54 ≈ 3.94 inches

15 ÷ 2.54 ≈ 5.91 inches

Required pixels:

3.94 × 300 ≈ 1182 px

5.91 × 300 ≈ 1773 px

Minimum recommended resolution: 1182 × 1773 px

Pixel requirements for common sizes (calculated at 300 DPI)

Printed finished size (approx.)

Actual Size (cm)

Actual Size (inch)

Recommended minimum pixels (width × height)

Small icon / sticker

5 × 5

2.0 × 2.0

≥ 600 × 600 px

Phone case

10 × 15

3.9 × 5.9

≥ 1200 × 1800 px

A5 Area

14.8 × 21

5.8 × 8.3

≥ 1750 × 2500 px

A4 Area

21 × 29.7

8.3 × 11.7

≥ 2500 × 3500 px

⚠️ Note: If the image resolution is significantly lower than the values above, the printed result may appear blurry, jagged, or grainy.

Minimum Text Size Guidelines

When using the built-in text tool, the recommended minimum font size is 2 pt to ensure legibility and sharp edges in print.

Usage Notes and Best Practices

  • DPI vs. Pixels: DPI defines print density, while pixels define image size. Both must meet requirements to ensure clarity.

  • Vector files preferred: SVG files are automatically processed in high definition and do not require DPI adjustment.

  • Avoid scaling up images: Enlarging raster images inside the editor will reduce print quality. Prepare files at the intended print size before uploading.

  • Small-format prints: For stickers and other small items, 400–600 DPI is recommended to preserve fine details.

Tip: DPI values can be adjusted without changing image size using tools such as Adobe Photoshop or reputable online editors.
